Geometric Art was born from the ideas of Picasso and Basque, who created cubism in 1908. Cubism dissolves everyday objects into simple geometric figures. It shows the objects from different angles and reminds of a flat pattern which can be glued into a 3d object. There were 2 types of cubism, Analytic and Synthetic. Analytic one was about recreating the object fully on canvas and synthetic one showed just parts of objects that could be referred to one situation. For example in Analytic Cubism artists would depict still life, consisting of a cup, a plate with apples and a vase for flowers, put at one table. However in Synthetic cubism an artist would rather paint a part of a guitar, a cup of coffee and a piece of a newspaper to visualize the “situation” in a cafe.

Cubism had a lot of followers and appreciators, and was a first step for creation of new styles that would use simple geometric forms, for example figurative art. One of TrendGallery artists claims that modern art, which tends to be simple but skillful, likes using geometric shapes. You can find plenty of figurative and cubism school Abstract art paintings created by our artists on TrendGallery website.

In this article you will read about the famous Artists in the world of Geometric art.

1. Vera Malnár

In her artworks she composes hand painted style and digital art. The idea is simple: help the artistic intuition to come up with something new. With the help of computers it is possible to make thousands and southands ideas for placing the figures on canvas and creating modern paintings. And these ideas are limitless.

“Intuition is old fashioned, and it can be replaced easily by randomness which can be provided by modern sophisticated computers”

Computers can open the full spectrum of ideas for the artist and then one of the most resonating ideas can be used as a basis for future artwork. In Vera`s mind, a computer is not a generator of ideas, it's rather an assistant that can help you find the most appropriate composition quicker and can show you the direction for your future work.

2. Gottfried Honegger

The artist was born in a small village in the international family. His mom was Latin and dad was German. The artist has been trying to keep the authenticity of both roots and to find the balance between both nationalities in his art. Gottfried rose in the atmosphere when they lacked a lot of basic things, for example no lights in the house in the evening. Under these circumstances he had to come up with new ideas of how to make life more convenient. Honneer believes that his life conditions in his childhood made his imagination work and left a huge imprint on his outlook. In his wall paintings Honneger raises not only aesthetic questions but social ones as well.

“You can get new experience and produce something new and unique by playing”

The artist assumes that our brain thinks in pictures and that art was the first language in the world, used by homosapiens. The art is pure and trustworthy and the artist makes the art which helps the audience to feel comfortable and involved, while admiring it, And what can be more pure and transparent than abstract figures on the canvas? “The whole history of art is an emotional situation” he says.

3. Nicolas Dubreuille

The artist mostly expresses himself through sculptures and ceramics, and is fond of working with shapes and figures.

“I started to use resin and aluminum more than clay as I consider these materials the best ones to shape the drawings”.

In his artworks, Nicolas uses the language of geometry . He creates his art by adding the pieces of previous works to the new ones. It's like a skeleton which is gradually turning into a piece of art when the new parts are added to it. The artist toys with colors, adds bright and glitter accents to avoid trivialness of simple forms. The artist is a hand at using the colors in his artworks. For example in one of the series he created, he uses a similar composition for all the canvas but each of them looks completely different and unique as a result of color accents, distinguished features, tones and light. His new artworks have a new noticeable feature, the shapes are more radiant and hard-edged, he reduced the color pallete of his works to 6 clearly visible colors. Nicolas combines geometry and color and sticks to experimentation and research. The artist is also interested in figurative art and takes inspiration in the brave color usage of the artists of this school.

4. Brent Hallard

His artworks are “wonderfully simple” in radiant color scheme and with perfect symmetry. Brenk works with the artworks even on aluminum and prefers expressing his style in a minimalist manner. The artist creates simple forms and his paintings are usually monochromatic, the artworks are a kind of visual illusion and are meant to interact with the audience directly. You will not see any complicated images on his canvas, but this simplicity evokes and challenges imagination and perception. There are no formal restrictions and limits in his works, only pureness and certainty.

The artist prefers relying on his intuition and ponders over the ideas while working on each artwork. Brent believes, the simpler the artwork is - the better it is. A viewer's mind can relax while admiring his colorful paintings.

5. Paul Klee

The artist started his way when creating the paintings in a comparatively realistic manner, and preferred making landscape paintings. When watching his artworks you can observe an evolution of his style which was getting simpler and from recognizable buildings it turned into simple rectangle multicolor shapes on canvas. Music had a big influence on his works, as in the early childhood he was attending music school. In the artworks Klee uses the composition of several colors which are set in various order, which is similar to the position of notes on the staff. His artworks are like riddles where you should guess the system of placing the rectangles of different colors on canvas.

Paul Klee believed that photographs can show a realistic world but art should go beyond.
