“I chose abstract painting because it gives me freedom. Each canvas for me is a cosmic big bang, from which a new universe is born. This excites me and makes me feel like a creator. The palette of my paintings is diverse. I love working with both contrasting colors and variations of a single color.

I am in constant search of new technical solutions for my paintings. This can involve working on a wet canvas, the technique of ebru, or the free pouring of paints. The main thing for me is to achieve spontaneous colorful forms and then manage them on the canvas, finding a place for each one. My paintings convey expression and the joy of life. They reflect life on a cosmic macro level and on a micro level under the lens of a microscope. I am inspired by how the large and the small intertwine in our world!”

Bio

Orkun is a young artist from Istanbul who is in love with this giant city. His worldview and aesthetic preferences have been shaped by the multicultural atmosphere of Istanbul. Orkun studied in private art classes, participated in plein airs and exhibitions. He dedicated three years of his life to street art and festivals. Initially, the young painter assisted more experienced street artists, and later he began creating street canvases himself. Currently, Orkun is working on a series of abstract canvases using a special technique. It combines methods of working on a wet canvas, mixing paints directly on the canvas, and elements of monotype and graphics.

Orkun's unique style is recognizable. The colors on his canvas form unique patterns reminiscent of natural textures: the pattern on the surface of a mineral, the flow of water, the texture of clouds. Despite the fact that Orkun's painting gravitates towards pure abstraction, recognizable subjects can also be found: landscapes and cosmic space.
